Happenings

The new site is up for the our College of Environmental Design. You can check it out here.
The site is featuring some of my work from last year. On the home splash page, they are images 8 & 9. (You can check out high resolution images of this same project in a post from Feb. 2008 'Martin Sculpture Garden'.) Under the 'Landscape Architecture MLA' heading the first image that pops up when you go there, the photo next to a drawing that looks like mold overrunning french toast is mine. i'm going to post that whole project later on when i get a good scan.
On a side note The Melvins rocked the nether regions of Athens on Monday....was a good time!

NYC Trip

Here is an animation I made from our trip we just did to New York. I used about 350 pictures I took of myself for the project. If you are anything like me, its difficult to look at yourself for too long, so I was happy to finish this thing up. Pick out the sites.

do do dooo, la la laaaaaaaaa

So I guess nobody wants one of these totally sweet, handmade compilations with the even sweeter artwork made from real LP covers. (Actual artwork is not shown, and no it is not the yodeling dude.)OK, guess i will just listen to all 3 myself at the same time which may overload my endorphins to critical mass.

SONG OF THE MOMENT COMPILATION

Its time. Over the last year I have posted songs.....POW SMACK....stuff that I am diggin' at the moment, songs that are on heavy rotation in the studio and really hit the spot while working. They are all listed under the "Song of the Moment Archive". The first three people that leave a "give me the jams" comment here, will receive a limited edition CD....to your door, anywhere in the world.

STEP 1 : leave "give me the jams" comment here under this post, and sign it clearly (use an assumed name if you want)
STEP 2 : send me an email here*mydesignjuice@gmail.com*using the same name you used in the comment with your mailing address
STEP 3 : hold your breath and wait with extreme anticipation for your key to eternal sunshine

new ride

Check out my newly acquired Schwinn Varsity 10 speed all original from the early 70's in campus green. It was Schwinn's largest frame. I put some high performance tires on it, and it rides like a dream. This thing kicks ass.

Nighttime Swerve

My friend Austin Hill a.k.a Naughty Escort just released a new digital 12" 'Hear to Get Down' that is a super smokin' summer-time dance floor joint. He is very generously giving it away for free at his site here: NIGHTTIME SWERVE
You can down load it in WAVE form or high quality MP3. When you do, let him know what you think.

Internship

I start my summer internship tomorrow with LaQuatra Bonci Associates, a Landscape Architecture firm out of Pittsburgh with a small office here in Asheville. Locally one of the most obvious projects that they are working on is the Pack Square revitalization. Here is their website:

1/3 of the Way

Wow, year one classes are DONE. A couple of exams are left to finish and that is it! The past couple of weeks have been brutal with its work load, with such highlights as the 80+ hour site engineering nightmare project. The project featured a huge program for a tiny site, and so many steps to complete that for amateurs like us it was a humongous challenge and extremely time consuming. I hope to post some projects from this semester soon, so be looking out for that.

What R U talking about?

Just when you think that you can't be any more sleep deprived and your mind is completely drained of any ability to rationally function, thats when things become more clear. When I say clear, I mean the kind of clear that someone might see if they needed to end the suffering of an injured or sick animal. It may be hard to dig deep, but in the end its just the right thing to do.

DJ Food

Check out this super-deluxe site to get your art on! U B U W E B Tons of archives on art related experimental film, sound, poetry, writing and other various mediums. The 365 days project is really cool. You should in particular check out this mega-mix from Strictly Kev A.K.A. DJ Food of Ninja Tune fame called "Raiding of the 20th Century". Key lessons on the world of cut up music. I have heard the original 2 part mix, but it is now expanded to 5 parts. Essential education here

Food........

If you have never read anything by Michael Pollan, you should. He is a brilliant writer that deals a lot with food and culture and the modern day bastardization of the stuff we ingest. Very readible and thought provoking author. Here is a link to an amazon blog where he is the guest blogger talking about........food. OMNIVORACIOUS

Martin Sculpture Garden

Here are my drawings (each about 24" x 32") and model (about 12" x 16") for a client who is building a scaled down replica of Khan's Kimball Art Museum. They have a sweet collection of outdoor sculpture with an emphasis on kinetics that requires an equally sweet public garden. You need to check out the website for kinetic artist Tim Prentice, so you can dig his design juice mind. Nice little flash examples of his work. Specifically "Yellow Zingers" will be installed at The Martin.

Acorn Squash -vs- John Hejduk

Here is my analysis from studio last semester of, what else, the acorn squash compared to conceptual genius architect John Hejduk's "Wall House 2". It is ink on vellum, about 24" X 32".

Sculpture Garden

We went to the Bischoff Sculpture Garden in New Orleans done by the Sawyer/Berson firm.
Really nice bit of Landscape Architecture, cool because we just completed a big sculpture garden for our final studio project at the end of last semester.
Peep these pics.
